Who Is Robinson West?
Robinson West is a typical 10-year-old boy who likes playing video games and messaging with his friends. The only thing he likes more than being online with his friends is being at school, at a party or anywhere he can interact socially. His father calls him a social bumble bee.
Robinson has a unique personality that was fostered by his participation in modeling-based talent pageants which started at the age of three. His mother and father strategically guided him in a way that made him courageous, confident, and compassionate towards others.
At the age of 7 he published his first book with the help of his mother. His father, who is an international speaker, never hesitates to give Robinson an opportunity to take the stage and shared a message when the opportunity presents itself. Robinson has spoken across The United States and has delivered two international presentations in Nairobi, Kenya, The first of which was in 2019 at age 7.
During a family visit to Nairobi, Kenya, Robinson was able to visit the Nunguni village and meet the children of the Glorious Life Learning Center. To his surprise, he discovered that the children did not have a playground. This discovery set Robinson’s mind in motion and he decided to start an initiative called On The Playground. This initiative would be a fundraising project that would provide land as well as playground equipment starting with the children in the Nunguni village.
Robinson entered the Sunbrust pageants in Indianapolis, Indiana to raise funds for his playground project. After winning the City and State pageant Robinson used the balance of the money raised to help put his idea in to motion. Robinson along with his parents returned to Kenya in July of 2021 and made a trip to the village where the official playground project sign was already erected. They held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially launch the project and Robinson along with Dr. Juma Nashon, President of the Kavod Foundation scooped the first shovel of dirt.
During his speech Robinson asked everyone to get involved saying “no one can do everything but everyone can do something”.
When Robinson was asked why he started the playground project and his answer seemed to be beyond his years.
“These young children are receiving a top quality education. With that being said, part of development is the ability to dream and on the playground is where many dreams are born. Children develop creativity and learn to cooperate.” – Robinson West
On a normal day Robinson attend Northpoint elementary school in Bloomington, Illinois. After completing his homework and additional studies Robinson enjoys video games with his friends. He believes in progressive self-improvement and when asked what he loved doing during in his free time he said spending time with mother and talking with father online when he is out of the country.
